Greetings!
Welcome to the HP Support Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, there's an issue with the touchpad.
Don’t worry, I’m here to help! To better assist you -
1) What's the model name of the computer? Refer to this link for steps to find the product details. (Ensure not to share the serial number, email, phone number, etc.)
2) Were there any hardware or software changes made?
3) Have you tried connecting an external mouse to the computer? Does that work?
While you respond to that, let's try these steps -
Step 1 Enable the Touchpad -
Look for a dot at the top left corner of the touchpad panel, double tap the on the dot to enable the touchpad.
Or, you may try the steps mentioned below -
1) Right click on the Start or Windows icon and the click on "Settings".
2) Click on "Devices".
3) Click on "Mouse and touchpad", and the click on "Additional mouse options".
5) Select the Touchpad tab (or Hardware tab or Device settings tab), and make sure your Touchpad is enabled.
6) Restart your computer.
Step 2 Re-install the Touchpad driver -
1) Right click on the start or Windows icon and open the "Device Manager".
2) Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices".
3) Right click on the "Synaptics TouchPad".
4) Click on uninstall and restart the computer.
If the issue still persists, test the hardware.
Step 3 Test the Touchpad -
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F2 once.
4) Go to Component test.
5) From the list, run the Touchpad test.
If the touchpad test passed, try these step -
Step 4 System Restore -
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F11 once for System Recovery.
4) Choose the Keyboard Layout.
5) Click on Troubleshoot.
6) Go to Recovery Manager and click on System Restore.
7) Choose a Restore point or a Restore date when the computer was working fine.
😎 Click on OK to initialize the System Restore.
Step 5 System Recovery -
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F11 once for System Recovery.
4) Choose the Keyboard Layout.
5) Click on Troubleshoot.
6) Go to Recovery Manager and click on System Recovery.
Note : System Recovery will delete everything that you had saved or installed on the computer.
Hope this helps!
Let me know how that goes.
