Attempting to factory reset laptop, error message appears saying harddrive space must be cleared

Inherited used laptop and can not bypass the login screen. Attempting to factory reset laptop which seems to work until the last step, where an error message will appear describing the issue as there being no space left in the harddrive and the space must be cleared. I'm trying to reset the laptop without access to the desktop so I can't open the harddrive and delete data to create the space it says it needs.
