Hi @Xscourtney,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Stream 14. The "Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC" message usually indicates that there is a problem with your Windows operating system. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
- Restart your PC: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix temporary glitches. Turn off your computer completely and then turn it back on.
- Check hardware connections: Ensure that all hardware components, such as the hard drive and RAM, are properly seated in their respective slots. Loose connections can cause startup problems.
- Remove external devices: Disconnect all unnecessary external devices (like printers, USB drives, etc.) and try starting the PC without them. Sometimes, incompatible devices can cause issues.
- Run Windows Startup Repair: If Windows is detecting a startup issue, it may automatically run a Startup Repair. Allow it to complete and follow any on-screen instructions.
- Use System Restore: If you recently installed new software or drivers, a System Restore to a point before the issue started might help. To do this, you'll need access to the Advanced Startup Options.
- Boot into Safe Mode: Try booting your PC in Safe Mode to see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, it may indicate that a recently installed application or driver is causing the issue.
- Check for disk errors: Use the built-in Windows "chkdsk" utility to check for and repair any disk errors. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: chkdsk C: /f
- Reset Windows: If the problem persists, you may consider resetting your PC. This will reinstall Windows while keeping your personal files intact. However, it will remove all installed applications. To do this, you can use the "Reset this PC" feature in the Advanced Startup Options.
- Reinstall Windows: If nothing else works, you might need to perform a clean reinstall of Windows. This will erase all data on the system drive, so make sure to back up your important files first.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
