Hi:

First run the hard drive diagnostics test in the BIOS (F2) to rule out a hard drive failure.

If the drive passes, then see if making a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool gets the notebook to work again.

You will need access to another Windows PC with W7 64 bit or newer on it to make the media, and a 32 GB USB flash drive.

Here is an info link for how to use the cloud recovery tool and there will be a link within that link for you to check if your notebook is supported by the tool.

how do I run the hard drive diagnostic test?

HP Recommended

Turn on or restart the PC.

Immediately press/tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F2 hardware diagnostics option and press the enter key.

Test the hard drive.

When I tried testing the hard drive I got this

Hard Drive/SSD SMART check: PASSED

SSD wear check: PASSED

HDD/SSD 1: SSD KBG30ZMV256G wear level is 4%

I also did a system fast test and everything is passed but it says Hard Drive/SSD short DST Check: WARNING

The drive seems to be OK.

Proceed with making the bootable recovery media with the HP cloud recovery tool and see if that gets your notebook to work again.

Hi,

I tried the USB boot option and I got the following message

“Recovery not supported under current configuration. Please enable acceleration option

for intel smart response technology and try again”

The only suggestion I can offer, would be to make sure that the Intel Rapid Start Technology setting is enabled.

If it is, then you will have to clean install W10 by making bootable installation media using the media creation tool from the link below.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If your notebook has the Intel Optane memory, see this link for how to install W10...

https://www.dell.com/support/article/en-us/sln309490/how-to-install-windows-10-when-intel-optane-is-...

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.

How do I enable the intel smart response technology?

That I do not know.

There should be a setting for that in the BIOS.
