Microsoft Windows 10 in S Mode

New (6 weeks from purchase) laptop (product no. 3C310UA), no hardware or software changes since new except installation of Microsoft Office (via disk with MS authorization code), running well via wireless connection.  Message popped up on screen saying bios update required from HP and would be done at next power off.  Message box included no option to "accept/not accept" or any other opportunity to reject.  At next power off/on, notebook would not boot correctly, in spite of numerous attempts.

My options?
