Hi @Sujitkm_51

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 15.6-inch Laptop PC 15-e2000 (2J4V9AV) is automatically booting into the Startup Menu or Boot Menu every time you power it on, this suggests there might be an issue with the laptop's boot order, the hard drive, or the system settings. Here's a detailed guide on how to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

1. Check the Boot Order in BIOS/UEFI

The Startup Menu or Boot Menu may be appearing because the system is set to boot from a device (such as USB or DVD) first, or it is not finding the correct boot device (like your hard drive or SSD).

Steps to Check and Adjust the Boot Order:

Power off your laptop completely.

Power on the laptop, and immediately start pressing the ESC key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears (you can also try F10 to directly enter the BIOS setup).

In the Startup Menu or BIOS/UEFI settings, look for a section called Boot Options or Boot Order. The exact name may vary depending on your BIOS version.

Check the Boot Order:

  • Ensure that your Hard Drive or SSD (the drive where Windows is installed) is listed first in the boot order.
  • If there are external devices (like USB drives or DVDs) listed before the internal drive, you might be seeing the Startup Menu because the system is attempting to boot from those devices instead.

Set the Boot Order Correctly:

  • Move your internal drive (HDD/SSD) to the top of the list, if necessary. This ensures that the laptop tries to boot from your main system drive first.

Save Changes and exit the BIOS. Usually, this is done by pressing F10 or following the on-screen instructions to Save & Exit.

Restart the laptop to see if it boots correctly to Windows.

2. Check for External Devices Connected

Sometimes, the Startup Menu can appear if there are external devices connected (like a USB drive, external hard drive, or DVD). The system might be trying to boot from one of these devices instead of the internal hard drive.

Actions:

  1. Unplug all external devices (USB drives, external hard drives, DVDs, etc.) from the laptop.
  2. Restart the laptop to see if the Startup Menu still appears.

3. Check for Bootable USB or CD/DVD

If you have inserted a bootable USB drive or a CD/DVD containing an operating system installation, the laptop might automatically try to boot from these devices, showing the Startup Menu.

  • Remove any USB drives, CDs, or DVDs from the laptop and restart.

4. Run System Diagnostics (Check Hard Drive)

If your laptop is having trouble detecting the internal hard drive or SSD, it may repeatedly show the Startup Menu because it can't find a valid operating system to load.

To check the system diagnostics:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Power it back on, and immediately press the ESC key to open the Startup Menu.
  3. Select F2 (System Diagnostics).
  4. Run the Hard Drive Test to check for any issues with the internal storage. This will check if your hard drive/SSD is functioning properly.
  • If the diagnostic tool detects an issue with the hard drive (such as a SMART error or fail message), your hard drive may be failing, and you may need to replace it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
