Hi @Susie1116

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for sharing the details—it’s understandably frustrating when your printer suddenly stops responding and flashes cryptic codes.

The flashing lights and error code B3ED8BDF suggest a firmware or internal hardware fault that’s preventing your printer from completing startup or printing.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore its rhythm and get it printing again.

Perform a full power reset

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or extension cords).
  • Power the printer back on and check if the lights stabilize.

Disconnect all cables except power

  • Remove any USB, Ethernet, or fax cables.
  • Restart the printer with only the power cable connected.
  • This isolates the printer from external signals that might be triggering the error.

Check for firmware updates using HP App

  • Download the HP App for Windows.
  • Open the app, select your printer, and go to Support > Diagnose & Fix.
  • If the printer is detected, run the tool to check for firmware updates and internal faults.

Try a semi-full reset

  • On some models, pressing a specific button combination during startup can trigger a deeper reset.
  • If your printer has a touchscreen, press and hold Back + Cancel while powering on.
  • If it has physical buttons only, try Power + Cancel or Power + Resume.
  • Hold for 10–15 seconds until the lights blink or the screen refreshes.

Check HP’s blinking light guide

If the printer remains unresponsive or the error persists after these steps, it may require deeper internal recovery. Let me know what light pattern you’re seeing or if the printer responds to any of the resets—I’ll guide you further from there.
