Hi @ray434,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a system error on your HP computer. This type of error often requires troubleshooting steps to be resolved. Here are a few steps you can try:

Option 1: Hard Reboot

  1. Press and hold the power button until the computer turns off.
  2. Wait a few seconds and then turn it back on. This might help you bypass the frozen screen.

Option 2: Access BIOS/UEFI

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Turn it on while repeatedly pressing the Esc key until the Startup menu appears.
  3. In the Startup menu, use F10 to enter the BIOS or UEFI settings.
  4. Check if you can navigate through the BIOS settings. If so, exit the BIOS and try rebooting the system to see if it starts normally.

Option 3: Use HP Recovery

  1. If you have HP Recovery media, you can try using it to repair the system.
  2. Insert the recovery media (USB or DVD) and restart your computer.
  3. If the system doesn’t boot from the recovery media, you may need to change the boot order:
    • Access the BIOS Setup by pressing F10 at startup.
    • Go to the Boot Menu and set the USB or DVD drive as the first boot device.
  4. Save changes and restart to boot from the recovery media.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a system recovery or reset.

Option 4: External Keyboard or Mouse

If your built-in keyboard and mouse are unresponsive:

  • Try connecting an external keyboard or mouse to see if you can navigate the recovery options.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
