HP Laptop 15-da0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Some background: I got this laptop second hand from my partner after they got a Mac and I chose to just do a full factory reset (I've done this before on my own PCs and past laptops no issue). It did the whole "preparing" part but every time the laptop would reset, then boot back up with no change stating it failed. I tried every option and combination of resets I could, always the same result. I went searching online for solutions.

I took a few solutions from this forum, no luck. I tried reddit, no luck. I even tried manually deleting a large quantity of unneeded files (installer apps and such) to see if any could be an issue. Still no luck. The last one I tried was to open the command window (Admin) and type "sfc/scannow". It was the first step to what seemed like progress as it stated it found corrupted files and repaired them. So after that, I tried to reset again.

Ever since, this is what happens when the laptop boots up. It says "Please Wait", then "Please wait while we install system updates", and then to the BIOS update screen.

- If I confirm, it says "BIOS Image file did not pass validation", and restarts, and does that on loop.

- If I postpone, the laptop just restarts, and back to square one

- If I cancel, the same thing happens as Postponing

- If I let the time hit 0, the same thing as confirming the update occurs.

I went searching again and found a way for a "BIOS recovery (Windows key + B + power key for a couple seconds). This skipped the "Please wait" screen and the "Confirm/Postpone/Cancel" screen for the BIOS, but it went straight to "BIOS Recovery Failed. BIOS image file did not pass validation".

I know my way round a PC, and my partner does too, if not even better than I do. But neither of us can figure out what is going on or where to even start.

Any suggestions would be MASSIVELY helpful. Thank you
