Hi all,

after my last post ( BIOS Advanced tab - HP Support Community - 8132685 ) got shut down without being resolved I'll try and ask a different question:

instead of asking what the new key combination is for the advanced tab of my current F.16A BIOS, I'd like to know how (not if, because I know it's possible) to rollback to a previous BIOS version (of which I know the advanced tab's key combination).

I've already downloaded the previous version (F.10 for whoever is on the same boat as me) using HP software and drivers previous versions' repository, but as I try and install it, the only option I get is to "create USB flash recovery drive" while the "update" one is greyed out (as prevention, I get it).

Question is, do I have to brick my laptop to use the recover BIOS function or is there a more civilised way of going about it?

And suggestion for whoever needs to see this:

STOP LOCKING OUT BIOS OPTIONS FOR CONSUMER LAPTOPS, IF ANYONE DECIDES TO TINKER WITH THEM, IT'S ON THEM, IT'S NOT THE MANUFACTURER'S RESPONSIBILITY!

I had already tried those steps a while ago and I recall it didn’t work because it (correctly) recognized the bios on the usb drive as previous version and didn’t allow me to procedeed

I'll have another go anyway and get back to you asap

Hi @Borgo,

Welcome to the HP Support Community. It is a great way to post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community.

There is no advanced BIOS option on HP consumer notebooks. Hence, the unit and may need to be checked at the service center.

I suggest that you contact HP Service Center in your location from this web link

hi, I understand there isn't now. My reasoning is, if it could be accessed in a previous version of the bios, it can still be accessed, the only difference being a different key combination to get in.

Since my warranty has already expired, HP has no obligation to "preserve" the hardware by preventing it to be accessed. Question now is, do I have to contact a HP reparir center, watch them do it and take notes of the procedure or try my luck with Insyde?

All in all, thanks for your time
