ESP stands for EFI System Partition, which is a very small partition (yours is most likely 260 MB) on the hard drive/ssd drive. It contains not only Windows boot system but also HP diagnostic tool and bios update utility, which is used when a bios update is attempted from within Windows. Evidently your efi partition doesn't have enough space for the bios update utility to work on the update.
A workaround is to create a bios update usb flash drive and run it from Firmware Management of F2 PC Diagnostics UEFI. The usb drive contains bios update utility in the \HP_TOOLS\Hewlett-Packard\BIOSUpdate folder hence doesn't have to use the update utility in efi partition.
