Hello there. I am trying to download the BIOS update for my Windows 10 Pro HP laptop. When I was asked what OS my laptop runs on, there's no option for Windows 10 Pro from the menu but Windows 10 (64bit). Can I select this option even though I use Windows 10 Pro?

That should work fine.

Updates to bios can go badly wrong  I would ignore any request from Microsoft to update the bios.  A notification from HP by email or through the HP Support advisor should be handled with care.  If the update is security related I personally would not install it in my home system.  If the PC is used in a domain (business, industrial, defense) then yes, needs to be updated.  If the bios updates was to fix a problem such as battery not getting to %100 then I might consider it.  If you are having a problem and the bios "fix list" shows the same problem being fixed then yes, need to install.
