Are no more updates (especially BIOS updates) carried out when the warranty for the device (according to HP Support Assistant) has expired?

The HP support assistant software will notify you of BIOS and driver updates as long as HP releases them for the model series.

 

You can also periodically check your notebook's support page to see if updates have been released that for some reason the HP support assistant did not notify you of.

HP typically releases BIOS and driver updates for approximately 3 years after the model series has been introduced to market.

 

Looking at the release date of the latest BIOS update, it is unlikely that HP will be releasing any further driver or BIOS updates for your notebook.
