Greetings & have a good day,
I have few units of HP RP2 Retail System Model 2030, recently trying to update BIOS, after downloaded sp84789.exe from
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp84501-85000/sp84789.exe to 1 of HP RP2 Retail System Model 2030, everything was fine until Command-Prompt (CMD) pop-up and asking: press any key to restart for continue update BIOS.
After I pressed enter key at keyboard, system restart, shows HP logo, wait for 140 secs, then auto restart again,
After auto restart, wait for another 140 secs, then auto restart again,
I am in front of this computer for whole process, rest assure there is no ANY interaction at keyboard nor mouse in between whole process, neither power shortage. i have recorded video for the whole process here: https://youtu.be/xrOGb_viqx8
and after whole process keep looping for 6 times, i realize it's a endless loop required alternative solution.
then i follow this site information,
HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) | HP® Customer Support
my 1st attempt was Press and hold the Windows + V keys, and then simultaneously press the power button.
screen showing BIOS version v2.15,
but sp84789.exe were version v2.17 as per written in hp official support website
on the middle bottom of the screen says press ESC to enter BIOS, but no respond after i pressed ESC button on keyboard.
then i have to wait another 140 secs for system reboot for 2nd attempt.
on my 2nd attempt, i had tried Press and hold the Windows + B keys, and then simultaneously press the power button.
now screen didn't show anything, all black. i can hear 7 times of long beep from buzzer.
i guess this mean the motherboard didn't support bios recoveries, please let me know if i am wrong here.
during this attempt, i didn't force shutdown nor cut off power, wait another 20 hours ++.
next morning when i back to office i realize this issue is far greater than i can imagine, therefore i am here to find solution.
welcome any pros can provide your valuable recommendation / solutions here.
your solution here will be super helpful for others who facing same issue in the future. 😉
besides hope to solve this issue because i still have few more units needed to update bios.
