HP ELITEBOOK 8470P

i bought a used HP ELITEBOOK about a year or two ago and i was unaware that it was BIOS locked. would there be any way to recover this laptop without opening the internals up?

Opening it up, presumable to either remove the CMOS battery or to reset the CMOS, will do you no good.

 

BIOS (and Power) passwords are encoded into the firmware of the motherboard and we have no access of any kind to that. Changing such a password requires completely replacing the motherboard with a new one that does NOT have a password encoded into the firmware -- and that usually costs a LOT more than simply replacing the computer.


I wish we could help you -- but we're not allowed to, since we have no way from here to verify ownership of any computer.
