HP Stream 14-ax040wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good day to anyone reading this. I have an HP Stream 14-ax040wm laptop with BIOS administrator password set. After three unsuccessful attempts, it throws system disabled code: i 44706668

I bought it second hand and I have called the previous owner and they say they don't remember ever setting a BIOS password.
The OS doesn't want to boot anymore, and I need access to BIOS so I can format.

Thank you all for your time and have a wonderful day.

@L-Xavis

I generally advise AGAINST buying used laptops for this very reason -- we can not assist in resetting passwords so you are locked out of the PC.

That is a Disable Code but we're not permitted to provide Disable Code bypasses anymore.

We are not permitted to assist in resetting passwords due to HP Policy.

For Admin password resets, you have to contact your regional HP Customer Support location directly for assistance.

--------------------
For BIOS or power-on password resets, because the password is encoded onto a chip on the motherboard, replacement of that motherboard is required. HP does not reset the BIOS password on the current motherboard.

If you are not prepared to spend the money to get HP to replace the motherboard, you would have to take the PC to a local repair facility to see if they can do it for you -- but we can not assist in that in any way.
