Probook 650 G2
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi there
Just bought a used ProBook 650 G2, and I wanted to update the BIOS, but it was passwordprotected.
Since earlyer owner don't remember, I'm stuck. Contacted HP support (Norway), since I have read that they have to provide a .bin file to fix this....but no, they don't send out that anymore due to new stickt restriction I was told....
How do I fix it then? Besides buying a new montherboard..
Read that it does not help removing the CMOS battery on this model (have not tried)

Please help 🙂

Hi:

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to help you, since HP will no longer supply the required SMC.bin file that is used to clear the BIOS password.

That was the only way it could be done.

Removing the CMOS battery will not clear the P/W.

HP issued this document recently...

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06368824

Also the forum rules were amended on 1 March 2019, which no longer allow us to help with removing passwords.

Rule 4.d...

d. No posts shall include instructions or directions intended to bypass or subvert security measures, including passwords, locking mechanisms, fingerprint scans, etc., or to bypass any safety measures.
