BIOS setup, new laptop, Free DOS

Purchased ProBook 470 G4 without OS, just Free DOS. System came with limited system/owner manuals. I expected a BIOS tutorial of some sort.

Have searched HP articles, data base and the forum, I am not able to find anything. All BIOS settings are mostly set to Legacy. The default options, "Apply Factory Defaults" and "Apply Custom Defaults" are mostly the same with a few changes, still Legacy.

Could use some direction as too how to obtain some walk through BIOS settings information for Windows 10 64 install? I can fumble around with the settings, some are mostly straight forward but I would preffer doing it correctly the first time to prevent from doing re-installs.

The sections on Setup (BIOS) and UEFI appear to be the same. Windows 10 will actually install in Legacy or Secure boot mode but you want to install in secure boot mode. You should have that boot option under the security tab in the BIOS...tap esc as you power up and go into Setup (F10). Not much more you really need to do other than change boot order (F9) to boot from your Windows 10 install media (thumb drive or DVD).

You could disable secure boot and try clean install of Windows 10 using Microsoft windows media creation tool by creating bootable installation USB:

You've to but Windows​ 10 product activation key from Microsoft to activate the specific edition of Windows 10 you installed.

Sorry it took me awhile to reply, thank you for answering my post. First time for me with UEFI BIOS and clean install. I did change to UEFI enabled and Legacy disabled, other settings in the BIOS did also change. Just want to be sure I'm familiar with what options are and are not selected. 

In *Security* TPM is available and allow user to reject selected. I don't think it matters, Win 10 Home doesn't support drive encryption?

In *Hard Drive Utilities* save/restore MBR of system hard drive is not selected, I know the disk partition will be GPT. Below that, greyed out, save/restore GPT of the system hard drive is selected, obviously the default. So I understand, why would MBR even be an option?

System Management Command is selected? I don't know this one?

In *Advanced*, Boot Options, Fast Boot is not selected. Select or not? If it is selected Fast Boot can be enabled/disabled in Windows Power Management?

In Secure Boot Configure, Enable MS UEFI CA Key is selected, I don't know this one?

*System Options*, Hyper Therading is selected. Is there any benefit to not enable Hyer Threading?

Multi Processor is selected. I believed Multi meant more than one CPU? A Multi Core CPU is one processor with multiple cores. Is a Multi Core single CPU considered Multi Processor in this application?  

Power Management, deep sleep is selected. What changes if not selected?

Wake On USB is selected. I never put my computer to sleep or hybernate so it doesn't matter?

*UEFI Drivers* 3rd Party Option ROM. For RAID drivers?

Wow we are getting down in the weeds here. None of this will affect whether Windows 10 installs. As noted in the posts above just set it to secure boot and install. But to answer as best I can:

TPM you can live without.

Save/restore MBR allows you to store the master boot record but will not help you here since that only applies to an MBR disk which you will not have. 

System management command is for enterprise level management. You don't need it for a home single user computer. 

Fast boot uncheck. 

Uncheck MS UEFI CA Key. 

Hyperthreading keep.

Keep Multiprocessor...no reason not to. 

Deep sleep allows full hibernation which I don't use either so makes no difference if checked or not.

If you never sleep your computer you don't need to worry how it wakes but wake on usb is good if you dock it and like to wake it up with external mouse or  keyboard input...works even with light sleep like when the screen just dims. 

UEFI drivers option ROM you don't need.
