Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the HP Laptop 15-bs0xx. I recently tried to update the its bios. The only similar option to this on the HP website was Laptop 15-bs000. I assumed both are same and proceeded with downloading it. Please correct me if they are not the same.

Moving on, the bios update seems to have corrupted the bios. When I try to boot it, the light will indicate that it is turned on but nothing would come up on the screen. I have already tried the key combination (various key combinations) to access the recovery bios if there is any but to no avail. I have also tried to recover it using a flashed recovery bios but again to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Anurag440,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I can understand how frustrating and stressful it must be to have your laptop not boot after a BIOS update, especially when you're trying everything to fix it.

  • Before the update, did you confirm the exact model number of your laptop (maybe from the label or in the system settings), or did you proceed based on the closest option you found online?
  • When you tried flashing the recovery BIOS, did you use a USB drive prepared using the HP BIOS Recovery tool, or was it another method?
  • When the power light turns on, do you hear the fans spinning or see any blinking LED codes (like Caps Lock blinking), which could indicate a specific error?

Let’s go through a few steps together to try and resolve this and get your HP Laptop 15-bs0xx back up.

Hard Reset the Laptop:

  • Disconnect the power cord, remove the battery (if possible), and press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and power cord, then try powering on the laptop.

BIOS Recovery Using Windows + B:

  • Ensure the laptop is off. Press and hold the Windows + B keys, then press the power button for 2-3 seconds while still holding the keys. Release the keys and see if the laptop boots into the BIOS recovery screen. If successful, follow the prompts to restore the BIOS.

Create a New BIOS Recovery USB:

  • On another computer, download the correct BIOS version for your exact model (confirm it with the product number).
  • Use the HP BIOS Update utility to create a recovery USB. Insert this USB into your laptop, then repeat the Windows + B recovery steps with the USB plugged in.

Disconnect All Peripherals:

  • Remove any connected peripherals like external hard drives, USBs, or other devices that could interfere with the boot process. Then try booting up again to see if the system responds.

Check for Beep/LED Error Codes:

  • Pay close attention to any beeping sounds or blinking lights from the Caps Lock or Num Lock keys. These codes often indicate specific errors (e.g., a certain number of blinks/beeps can point to motherboard or BIOS issues). HP’s support site can help interpret these codes if they appear.

I know how concerning this can be, especially with a critical BIOS issue, but we’ll keep working through these steps and hopefully find a solution to get your laptop running again. Let me know what happens, and we’ll go from there!
