Pavilion 6500

Hello everybody.

I'd like to update the BIOS for my old hp Pavilion dv6500 'service tag: dv6520ez) with AMD Turion Processor.

I've already found the correct BIOS version in this post: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Bios-for-Pavilion-DV-6500/m-p/6906922

To create the USB flash drive I followed the official support doc: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042629

Now the problem is that the tool doesn't prompt me with the option to create a HP BIOS Recovery USB flash drive. Instead I get the following error message: 'This BIOS is not for your Notebook PC'.

What I tried next is to use the HP USB Recovery Fash Disk Creation Utility. Unfortunately this doesn't work under Windows 10

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01890478

Can anyone help? Thanks..

@elafari Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are unable to update the BIOS.

This model is not tested for Windows 10 operating system, please refer to the following link.

If you do not see the version of your operating system (OS) listed, HP does not have any downloadable software or drivers for your product.

Many issues can be resolved by ensuring that you have both the latest OS version supported for your HP product and the latest HP driver updates. HP recommends that you install all updates from your OS vendor.

The Windows 7 operating system BIOS will not work on the Windows 10 operating system.

Please check for the windows update.

Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
