  1. Can i update the bios on my computer with this update? My operating system is windows 11. The update says for windows 10. My current BIOS version is F16, Apr 3, 2020.

 

Here are the details of the latest update:

Type: BIOS Version: F.29 Rev.A Operating systems: Windows 10 Version 20H2 (64-bit) Release date: Jan 10, 2024 File name: sp150843.exe (12.4 MB) Description: This package provides the Windows-based HP system BIOS update and includes essential upgrades for firmware on a computer system. BIOS is a type of firmware, and firmware is software embedded on the system board to control hardware components.

Fix and enhancements: - Provides improved security of UEFI code. NOTE: HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version which supersedes all previous releases.

You should be able to run the update in W10 (I've done that on a few PC's but not yours), however, if you feel uncomfortable doing that you can make a USB BIOS recovery drive and update the BIOS without even being in Windows.

Thank you for your reply. I took a chance and installed the bios update without any backup and thankfully the update completed successfully. Interesting that the driver update page on the HP website doesn't let you select Windows 11 as the operating system but only allows for Windows 10 even though this laptop was eligible for the Windows 11 update and has been running Windows 11 since it was eligible.
