I need to install XP on this laptop, but after loading all the files, when it tries to open windows, I get the BSOD with the error acpi.sys
And there is no such setting having anything to do with it in the bios, ...and I can't find any bios updates either

Hi:
What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?
The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.
Please do not post the serial number.
You aren't able to install XP because it does not have the storage controller driver needed to install.

Product # LM720AV DV6-6110? I think...I know the prod num is correct though, got that from bios.
1. no bios options
2. every forum that has a fix with a link, they are all dead...pages not found. Almost everything on this subject is too old to be around anymore, so if you have help, I'd be thrilled. I've wasted 6 disks doing various burns...I think I have a SP3, but I'm not really sure...I know that I need XP Prof...and I have the old laptop that I am trying to clone a disk from, and there is a product key, so I guess I need a XP Prof. OEM SP3 ...I was able to download SP3 from the web, but I don't if I slipstreamed it correctly on to a disk that had XP Prof SP2 OEM. (? I can do that, yes)
And every disk I burn and try to install, it unzips the files, and wham! Bluescreen. But the error is acpi.sys ...not ACHI ...so it could be a different driver causing the issue?
Please help me! (not just with instructions, but files also if you have any old stuff ) Thank you SOOOO much.
I know Acronis will clone to dissimilar hardward, I was thinking I would install Windows 10 (which installs fine of course) ...and then connect the other XP drive and clone from it, and hope that maybe Acronis would pick up the necessary drivers for the laptop from the Win10 installation...that's my newest chain of thought...something about trying the same thing over and over and expecting new results? Just wasn't working for me, haha

Hi:
As long as your notebook doesn't have the Intel AMD switchable graphics (for which no XP drivers exist), you should be able to get XP to work.
The first thing you need to do is to get it installed. I have attached the instructions below for how to slipstream the drive controller drivers you need into a copy of your XP installation disk.
I have also zipped up and attached below, the 32 bit XP SATA drivers you need to slipstream.
Here is a link to an old XP downgrade guide discussion for installing XP on notebooks that came with Vista or W7.
You need to look under the section for difficult models...

Notebooks with the AMD graphics also have an Intel graphics adapter.
The notebook runs off the Intel graphics adapter unless a heavy demand is placed on the Intel GPU, then it automatically switches to the AMD GPU.
Only W7 drivers were developed for that setup. It is a custom driver that was developed by Intel and AMD to work on HP notebooks.
You will not find a XP driver for that configuration.

Well, nothing except going through a stack of CDs & DVDs that is... haha
So, I need a graphics card driver, is that why it's failing you think? The bluescreen ref. is acpi.sys ...what driver would be the cause of that? (because I will try the sata drivers you uploaded, but I'm pretty sure I've tried them all by now...) so maybe something else?
I've tried so much stuff, I'm actually lost, I need to start over fresh I think...(and that rarely happens...)

Will the W7 driver not work on XP at all? Has that been tried and failed already? If so, I may as well quite now I guess...Guess I can't pull the graphics card, probably a chip, right? So I'm stuck/dead in the water? That driver is listed on my W7 drivers page for that laptop...so if you are right, I'm dead here?
