When we press the backspace key, almost regardless of the app running, it jumps to highlighting other areas and sometimes deletes everything highlighted.  This problem occurs with the built in keyboard or a BlutTooth Logitech keyboard.  This started working a week or more ago.  I have tried updating windows, BIOS, everything.  It is not happening while I am typing this message.

Hi N5jjr

The behavior you describe is unusual: it seems to be software related and not hardware as the external keyboard acts the same. You should analyze your computer looking for viruses or spy/adwares.

At the moment I can advise you to use both ADW Cleaner and Hitman Pro. Generally they don't find false positive unless you use pirated softwares (they should delete cracks as they often contains viruses/crypto-miner and other threats).

In addition, you should scan with your antivirus in safe mode. If you have no particular antivirus, by default, Windows Defender is active, here is how to launch a scan with it. If you use another antivirus you can tell which one or directly google "[Antivirus name] safe mode scan".

Thanks,

We are using Windows Defender.

We are seeing the problem when running MS Word and also Mozilla Thunderbird.  It was interesting to me that I didn't see the problem when sending the problem description using Mozilla Firefox, but I didn't run a very comprehensive test at that time either.

Thanks again +++

Mike,

I was thinking and searching about your problem... It may caused by Filter Key.

Can you check option #2 of the following link?

Maybe you can capture a small video of the problem using free capture tool such as FlashBack Express Recorder that way, you'll be able to upload it on youtube or as a gif.

i Mike,

Thank you for the vid, I saw it. That's quite strange.

Have you been able to check on the filter keys that I mentioned in my previous post?
