I notice a large partition on my hdd which I have no way of verifying what it is or how to utilize it in the event of me needing to perform a system recovery. I wish to create a new system recovery, specifically one which I can store on an external drive. Is there a way I could make an image which I could possibly access via a boot able USB drive? I am even willing to burn a recovery DVD. Once I do this I have the following questions:

1. Can I delete the unknown recovery partition to make space available via windows disk management?

2. The external drive I wish to use to save my system image, can I utilize the drive without formatting it entirely? There is data which is sensitive which I don't want to lose

3. How do I create a boot able DVD or USB thumbdrive which I can use to access the aforementioned recovery image /backup?

Your help and suggestions would greatly be appreciated

Thank you
