After running chkdsk on HP Notebook that was extremely slow, the logon screen says "Something happened and your PIN isn't available. click to set up your PIN again." When I click on "Set up PIN" the message repeats. When I try logging in with the password I get "The username or password is not correct. " The unit belongs to a friend and she only has one account enabled on this device. The Administrator's account is disabled so only the users Microsoft account is shown on the logon screen. I have tried using Linux's chntpw to enable the disabled Administrator's account to no available. Other than buying a program like "PassFab 4WinKey" (which I'm not sure will work, anyway) does anyone know how I might be able to enable the Administrator's account and remove the password? How can I get into Windows without having to restore the system to factory?
Just a FYI, I am unable to get to a command prompt. To get to the command prompt, I am being asked to enter the password for the one account whose password and PIN got messed up.
Thanks in advance for any help provided.
