My laptop has just started in the last two days crashing while I am at my law school with the error of bad-pool-caller. I have reset and run diagnostics on everything and cannot find a problem. It is not doing this while I am at home. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @hcola,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing the dreaded "bad pool caller" error, which typically indicates an issue with your computer's memory or drivers. Since the problem seems to occur only at your law school, it's possible that there's some environmental factor contributing to it. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue.
- Check for Updates: Ensure that both your operating system and drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause such errors.
- Scan for Malware: Run a thorough malware scan on your laptop to rule out any malicious software causing the issue.
- Check for Overheating: Ensure that your laptop isn't overheating while you're at law school. Excessive heat can sometimes cause hardware failures or trigger errors like the one you're experiencing.
- Check for Physical Damage: Inspect your laptop for any physical damage, particularly around the memory modules or other critical components.
- Test with Different Environment: Since the issue only occurs at your law school, try using your laptop in different locations within the school to see if the problem persists. This might help identify any specific environmental factors contributing to the issue.
- Memory Test: Run a memory diagnostic tool to check for any issues with your computer's RAM. You can usually find this tool built into your computer's BIOS or available as a third-party utility.
- Driver Verifier: Use the Driver Verifier tool in Windows to identify any problematic drivers that might be causing the error. This tool can help pinpoint the specific driver responsible for the issue.
- Event Viewer: Check the Windows Event Viewer for more detailed information about the crashes. Look for any patterns or specific error messages that might help diagnose the problem.
By systematically going through these steps, you should hopefully be able to identify and resolve the underlying cause of the "bad pool caller" error on your HP ENVY X360.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
