Hi,

I couple weeks ago my battery needed to be calibrated and so i did it and the laptop worked normally until ichecked on the battery again from the HP assistant and it still gave the "Calibration needed" and i did it again and again untill now my laptop is still needing to be calibrated and i do it everytime and i recently bought a new battery too and still the same when i want to charge my laptop instead of the the battery% going up its going down until it shutsdown and then i need to charge it again.

If there is anything that can fix this issue of the battery % going down and charging it up again and everytime calibrating it. I would really love to know how to fix it. Cause its driving me crazy and i barely can use my laptop for my school bcz of these problems.

Greetings,

Hi @ItmarI,

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's frustrating to experience battery issues on your laptop, especially when it affects your ability to use it for important tasks like schoolwork. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

  1. Update Drivers and BIOS: Make sure your laptop's drivers and BIOS are up to date. Visit the official HP support website for your laptop model and download and install any available updates.

  2. Check Power Settings: Ensure that your power settings are configured correctly. Go to "Power Options" in the Control Panel and check the settings for both "On battery" and "Plugged in" scenarios. Make sure that the settings are appropriate for your usage and that they are not causing the battery to drain rapidly.

  3. Battery Report: Generate a battery report to get more detailed information about your battery's health and usage. Open a Command Prompt window with administrator privileges and type the following command:

    powercfg /batteryreport

This will generate a battery report in HTML format. Open the report and look for any irregularities or warnings.

  4. HP Battery Diagnostics: Run HP Battery Diagnostics to check for any hardware issues with the battery. You can usually find this tool in the HP Support Assistant or in the BIOS/UEFI menu.

  5. Calibrate Battery Manually: Instead of relying on the HP Assistant, try manually calibrating the battery. Here's a step-by-step guide:

    • Charge your laptop to 100%.
    • Disconnect the charger and let the battery drain until the laptop shuts down.
    • Reconnect the charger and power on the laptop.
    • Repeat this process a couple of times.
  6. Check for Background Processes: Make sure there are no unnecessary background processes or applications consuming a lot of power. Open the Task Manager and look for any resource-intensive processes.

  7. Check for Malware: Perform a thorough antivirus and malware scan to ensure that your system is not infected, as malware can sometimes cause abnormal system behavior.

Remember to backup your important data before performing any troubleshooting steps, especially if you are considering a BIOS update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
