I bought a new HP laptop. It's an Intel Core 5 ultra.
It's done all its updates and set ups etc, but the battery is draining super quick.
For example, It was fully charged this morning at 100% and I've been on it for 10 minutes and its already dropped to 89%.
I've gone into the settings and applied all of the battery recommendations, but that doesn't seem to be slowing it down.
I dont have much installed on it besides the usual like Chrome, Brave, Nord VPV and qbitorrent.
It does come with Co-Pilot installed so Im wondering if thats doing it in the background.
For comparison, I have a Lenovo Thinkpad and I can use that for hours without the battery percentage even moving.
What can I do for the HP to stop it draining so fast?

Hi  @onkey89,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how it must feel to see your new laptop’s battery draining so quickly.

To start, could you please share the exact HP laptop model number?

Kindly confirm the below details.

Are you noticing the battery drain mostly when idle, or only when actively using apps like Chrome ?

Here are few steps you can try:

Check battery health: In HP Support Assistant, run a battery diagnostic to confirm the battery is functioning properly.

Update BIOS and drivers: Even though you’ve done updates, double‑check via HP Support Assistant or HP’s website for the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
