OMEN 16 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-ap0000 (BL6K2AV)

My laptop has been acting up lately and after some troubleshooting I got an error code telling me the battery calibration test failed. It took almost 11hrs to run the test. Should I try it again or what would be the next step?

Hi  @08691

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I can understand your concern, especially since the battery calibration test took a significant amount of time to complete.

A failed Battery Calibration Test may indicate that the battery is not calibrating correctly, which can be related to battery health. Before considering any hardware replacement, let's try a few checks and try some additional checks.

Could you kindly share the following information?

  • The exact HP laptop model or product number
  • Whether the battery is original or has been replaced before
  • Does the issue occur both on battery power and while connected to the AC adapter?

In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm :

  1. Update the BIOS and Windows Updates: (BIOS update steps link -  here )
  2. Reset the battery driver:
    • Open Device Manager.
    • Expand Batteries.
    • Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall device.
    • Restart the notebook and allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically.
  3. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics: Click here for steps
    • Press F2 repeatedly at startup to launch HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    • Run both the Battery Test and Component Tests.

If the battery test continues to fail or generates a Failure ID, that information will help determine whether the battery requires replacement .

I hope this helps.
