Hello! I have been having trouble with my laptop not charging while it is plugged in. I even bought a second charge to no avail. Several times now I have been able to follow the attached instructions from the Virtual Agent and it works every time, but returns to not charging after I shutdown my computer and turn it on again the next day. The system says my computer (and the ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery) are fully updated (as it appears to reinstall on its own after the fix process. Any suggestions to make this fix be permanent?
Thanks!

@EEK22422 Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that you are unable to charge the laptop battery.
As you have stated that you have already updated the BIOS and battery drivers.
Please perform the battery test and adapter test and check.
1. Power off the PC and make sure that it is completely powered off.
2. Press the power button and the moment you press the power button immediately start tapping F2 key, you should see the system diagnostics screen.
3. Look for the component test, under that all the hardware will be listed, please choose Battery and Adapter and initiate the quick test.
Note: If it fails it will generate a 24 digits alphanumeric failure id, please capture that.

Thank you for the response! I tried performing the battery test before even coming up with the solution I described in my first post, but could not get the systems diagnostics screen to pop up before my computer booted.
I have been careful about not letting my batter drop to 10% or below and it has continued to be able to charge without a problem. Perhaps there is something at that low battery level that is affected by BIOS? I will try to run the diagnostics again, but really had no luck following the instructions. I let you know if it stops charging again as well.

I understand your concerns.
In that case, I would suggest you perform the system restore and check.
Windows 10 has a reset feature that repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This feature is recommended for recovery because it reinstalls Windows 10 while either preserving your personal data and customizations or removing all your personal data.
You have a choice of two methods to reset your computer.
-
If Windows 10 loads correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset in Windows in this document.
-
If Windows 10 does not start correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset through Windows Recovery Environment in this document.
Have a nice day!!
