Hi @sumedhhebbar,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion gaming laptop is experiencing rapid battery drain even when the system performance is set to minimum, there are several potential causes for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and address the problem.

Check Power-Hungry Applications:

  • Ensure that there are no resource-intensive applications running in the background. Some applications, especially those related to gaming or multimedia, can consume a significant amount of power.

Update Drivers and Software:

  • Make sure that your graphics drivers, chipset drivers, and the operating system are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause increased power consumption.

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Open the Power Options in the Control Panel or Settings and review the power plan settings. Ensure that you are using a power plan that is designed for battery life, such as "Power Saver." Adjust the settings to optimize power usage.

Reduce Screen Brightness:

  • Lowering the screen brightness can significantly impact battery life. Consider reducing the brightness to a comfortable level, especially when on battery power.

Close Unnecessary Background Processes:

  • Check the Task Manager for any unnecessary background processes and close them. Some applications may continue running in the background even if you are not actively using them.

Check for Malware or Viruses:

  • Perform a full system scan for malware or viruses. Malicious software can consume system resources and lead to increased power consumption.

Battery Calibration:

  • Sometimes, recalibrating the battery can help. To do this, allow the laptop to completely discharge until it shuts down, then recharge it to 100%.

Update BIOS/UEFI:

  • Check if there's a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop. HP often release updates that can improve power management.

Battery Health Check:

  • Many laptops come with built-in tools for checking battery health. Use these tools to see if your battery is functioning properly.

Consider a Replacement Battery:

  • If your laptop is older, the battery may be reaching the end of its lifespan. In such cases, you might need to replace the battery.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
