Battery not charging, replaced and new one is not recognized.

Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

A few weeks ago my battery stopped charging.  After reading, I ordered a new battery and replaced it.  The new battery is not recognized.  I did a BIOS update and all other updates as recommended.  The laptop still does not see the battery.  Any other thoughts?  I need to be able to use my laptop without having it plugged in at all times.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.

 

Here is how you do it.

 

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

 

Restart the computer and test and check if it helps.
