Victus Gaming Laptop 16-s0057nt

I am currently using the HP laptop with the model number mentioned above. It originally came pre-installed with Windows 11. However, I decided to format it and install Windows 10 out of curiosity. After doing so, I encountered various driver issues. I tried formatting it again 3-4 times using different versions of Windows 10, but the issues persisted.

Now I want to go back to Windows 11. According to HP, I might still face driver-related issues if I just do a clean install. Therefore, HP recommended using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool and preparing a recovery USB disk.

However, I’ve run into a major problem: I can’t download the Cloud Recovery Tool from the Microsoft Store. I receive the following error:


"Something happened on our end.
We’re aware of the issue and working on it.
Try again later.
Error code: 0x80D03805"


This error is not limited to the Cloud Recovery Tool. For example, I get the exact same error when I try to download Spotify from the Microsoft Store.

Additionally, the HP Support Assistant application doesn’t open at all on my system.

That’s not the end of the problems — even Steam is affected. On the login screen, the QR code area constantly shows a loading animation, and after entering my credentials, the login button also gets stuck on loading. I can’t log in to Steam.

Also, when I try to sign in to my Microsoft account from system settings or the Microsoft Store, the login window pops up and immediately closes before I can type anything.

I do have a 32 GB USB drive with a Windows 11 ISO that I created, but when I boot from it, it says it can’t find the necessary drivers. HP also told me that this might not be a good option because the necessary hardware drivers may not install correctly using this method.

To make things worse, when I was using Windows 11, I never experienced a single blue screen or freeze. Ever since switching to Windows 10, I’ve been dealing with frequent BSODs, mostly related to MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and other errors — especially until I recently installed a new AMD driver.

Please help me return to Windows 11 properly. I’m stuck.

Here are my laptop specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS @ 4.30GHz

  • Radeon 760M Graphics (512MB shared)

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (6GB)

  • 16 GB RAM (5600 MHz)

  • 500 GB SSD storage

  • Currently installed OS: Windows 10 Home 2009 (Build 19045.5854)

Your notebook is not supported by the HP cloud recovery tool because it came with FreeDOS.

 

Only notebooks that have a Windows product key in the BIOS can use the HP cloud recovery tool for a clean install.

 

You will need to clean install W11 and have the product key available to activate Windows.

 

Memory management errors generally point to a defective memory chip.

 

If you can still get into Windows, run the Windows memory diagnostic and if there is a bad memory chip, it will report that very quickly and notify you to contact the PC manufacturer.

 

Unfortunately, I won't be able to help you with why the drive can't be found when you install Windows.

 

Notebooks with AMD processors do not need storage controller drivers installed during the installation process, like some Intel notebooks do.

What do you think about the issues I’ve been facing in Windows?

Getting a product key is not a problem for me — I can purchase one if needed. However, when I try to install Windows, the setup tool doesn’t detect my drives at all.

Also, when I try to upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 using the official Installation Assistant, I get an error that says “Something went wrong, please try again.”

I would really appreciate it if you could help me with at least these issues.

Yes, I know that several folks get that message when trying to install Windows on notebooks with the newer AMD processors and I don't know what to do about it.

 

The only outside thing I can think of that you can try would be to do what this person did to install Windows:

First of all, thank you for your quick responses!
I will review the discussion you shared and try again. If it works, I will mark it as the solution.
However, in the meantime, I’m hoping for support from others who might have experience with this issue.
Honestly, I’m a bit worried it might suddenly cause a problem at any moment :D.

Run that memory test because my money's on youer notebook has a bad memory chip, and that is the cause of most of the problems that you are having. 4.0 5

Thank you for your suggestion.

I have tried running a RAM test using MemTest86, but unfortunately, the test keeps showing many errors. However, I am quite sure that these errors are not actually present, because the test fails halfway through each time and does not complete properly.

I am not sure if this means the RAM is faulty or if there is another issue with the test itself. If you have any advice on how to properly test the memory or another tool to use, I would appreciate it.

Note: I have tried the suggested solutions. Unfortunately, I was not successful. I checked both the C: drive and the USB drive I prepared for the Windows installation, and I navigated to the path sp157907\driver\dchu_01_AMDIPU_Base\DPU_Sequence as instructed, but the driver still does not appear there. The issue persists, and I kindly ask for help as I am getting quite frustrated.

I have also just noticed that in the current Windows 10 setup, there seems to be a problem with my audio drivers — no sound is coming through, and the microphone is not working.

Additionally, I am unable to proceed with Windows updates; the update screen stays stuck at 0% while downloading.

I trust HP’s platform support and chose this brand based on that trust. Please help me understand that this is not a defect.

These issues started after I reinstalled the BIOS F29 update (I say reinstalled because F29 was already installed, but I updated it again to F29). After that, I formatted the system and installed Windows 10, which has been quite problematic for me. Everything was perfectly fine on Windows 11—even when running heavy RAM tasks, neither the CPU nor the GPU gave me any trouble. So, I don’t think it’s a RAM issue; it seems too coincidental that these problems began right after the BIOS update and downgrading to Windows 10.

You seem more experienced than me, and I’m quite new to this, but I believe the problems are more likely related to drivers rather than RAM.

If during the Windows memory test you got a yellow message within 10 - 15 seconds after starting the test that indicated there is a problem with the memory and to contact the PC manufacturer, then your notebook has a bad memory chip.

 

The next thing to do is if your notebook has two memory chips is to test each one individually to find out which one is bad.

 

Sorry that driver didn't work to get the drive to show up.

 

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions to fix the problems you are having, and you may have to take the PC in to your local repair shop.
