Pavilion 14-al118na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Really simple question that has got me stumped...

How do I access the BIOS on my Pavilion 14-al118na laptop?

I have tried ESC, F10, F2, F6 at the HP Startup screen stage. Have managed to get to a diognostic/testing menu but don't seem to be able to get into the actual bios. I need to enable the VT-x.

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an  HP Pavilion - 14-al118na laptop. I read that you would like to access the BIOS and have tried all options like Esc, F10, F2, etc. but that did not help. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps.

You have infact tried using the correct keys to access the BIOS. I suggest you to perform a hard reset on the laptop first and then try to access the BIOS. The below steps will help:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
  • Power ON the laptop and immediately hit the f10 key repeatedly to access the BIOS. Hit the f10 key for about 10 times and then lease it. You could also try the Esc key while the laptop is powering on.

If the laptop still refuses to enter the BIOS then I suggest you to perform a BIOSrollbackk and then try to access the BIOS again later: Please perform the steps mentioned under "Step 1: Recover the BIOS using a key press combination" from this link

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Feel free to keep me posted. Good luck! 🙂
