I have failed to install windows in my pc, because I can't access Bios set up after pressing F10 button. It writes Embedded Controller has identified a problem with a platform configuration data and recovery policy is manual. Contact your platform administrator to continual with manual recovery, or change recovery policy to auto in F10 Bios setup.
Please, admn help me to solve this problem out.

Hi @gmiracle,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error you're encountering suggests that the Embedded Controller (EC) in your HP laptop has identified an issue with the platform configuration data, which affects accessing the BIOS and installing Windows. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Reset the Embedded Controller

  • Power Drain:
    • Shut down your laptop completely.
    • Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if possible).
    • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
    • Reinsert the battery (if removed) and reconnect the charger.
    • Power on the laptop and check if you can access the BIOS (press F10 during startup).

Try Entering the BIOS Setup Again

  • Press F10 repeatedly right after powering on the laptop to enter the BIOS setup.
  • If the same error message appears, it might indicate a more significant issue with the BIOS or the platform's configuration.

Change Recovery Policy to Automatic (If Possible)

  • If you can enter the BIOS setup at some point:
    • Look for a setting related to the "Recovery Policy" in the Advanced tab of the BIOS menu.
    • Change the recovery policy from manual to automatic.
    • Save and exit the BIOS.

Clear the CMOS

  • Clearing the CMOS resets the BIOS settings to default, which might resolve any configuration issues.
    • If your laptop has a removable CMOS battery, try removing it for about 5 minutes and then reinserting it.
    • Alternatively, some HP laptops have a "Clear CMOS" or "Reset BIOS" option in the BIOS setup (under the Security or Advanced tab).
    • After clearing the CMOS, try entering the BIOS again by pressing F10.

BIOS Recovery

  • If resetting the EC and clearing the CMOS doesn't work, try performing a BIOS recovery:
    • Download the latest BIOS version for your HP laptop from the HP Support website.
    • Use another computer to create a BIOS recovery USB:
      1. Format a USB flash drive to FAT32.
      2. Copy the downloaded BIOS file onto the USB.
      3. Plug the USB into your HP laptop.
      4. Press and hold the Windows + B keys (or Windows + V depending on your model), then press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds.
      5. Release the power button but keep holding Windows + B. This should trigger the BIOS recovery process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
