HP Pavilion 15-b142dx Sleekbook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I received a black screen after rebooting the system during the update BIOS.

The bios does not load, flashes caps lock.

I am not able to go into support mode, when you press WIN+B nothing. hard reset nothing. reset CMOS nothing. HELP!

I had not found a usb recovery flash drive for my computer.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like a BIOS is corrupted and it needs to be flashed by the manufacturer.

I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

Is there any way I could get the recovery bios process for the laptop and try to fix it?

Thank you for posting back.

Bios Recovery using a keypress combination:

  1. Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.
  2. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the Power button for 2 to 3 seconds.
  3. Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.

If this recovery method fails, use another working computer to create a BIOS recovery flash drive to install the latest BIOS file.
