Pavilion dv7-3010sf
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello community,

I am actually trying to repair an old pavilion dv7-3010sf. The problem it encounters is a black screen, while only Caps lock and Number lock are blinking by series of 2; from what i've found, it could indicate a bios corruption, so I am searching for a tool to repair this bios or the file to repair bios with an usb flash drive, since HP support is done for this computer and so are these files.

I would be glad if anyone could provide me these files, or help me in any way, I really don't want to throw away my computer just because of this.

Thanks to all of you.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Firstly, remove the hard drive from the computer.
  • Once the hard drive is removed turn on the computer without the hard drive- While booting as the computer doesn’t detect a hard drive so it’ll automatically roll back to the previous bios.
  • Put the HDD back in and turn it ON. It might give an error about the improper shutdown. Just click continue and it should boot to windows.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello Echo_Lake,

I just did what you told me to do, but unfortunately it didn't solve the problem, I still have the 2 blink series when I boot up the computer, and still no display. No error, nothing different unfortunately. Maybe I didn't let the laptop boot as it should have? I let it on without HDD for ~30s, and same after I put back the HDD. So maybe it rolled back to the previous bios, but it looks like it changed nothing to me.

I don't know if it can help, but the only thing which seems to affect the pc is when I keep pressing Win+B before starting and then after, the pc either stops by himself or beeps then stops.

Thanks a lot for your reply anyway, ❤️

Thank you for posting back.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.
The last thing I can suggest trying to restore a computer back to the factory default, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
