After a final Windows 10 update today the HP BIOS  has  gone into a continuous loop . It restores the image then the screen goes blank and after a few minutes it kind of sounds a siren 9 times before going blank again and restarting to copy the image yet again. I have disconnected all peripherals and on a different device have downloaded the driver to reboot from USB. Unfortunately I just can’t get the BIOS BOOT menu to come up so can’t run the .exe file. The HP advice is to continually press ESC and other advice is Windows Key +B key but neither approach works

Is there a solution out there  please?

Hi @PaulF26

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I can imagine how unsettling it is to hear siren-like beeps and see your system stuck in a loop after what should’ve been a routine update. Let’s walk through a recovery method that doesn’t rely on accessing the BIOS menu directly:

Yes, you can attempt a BIOS recovery using a USB flash drive and HP’s Firmware Management tool, even if the ESC or Windows+B keys don’t respond. This bypasses the normal boot menu and forces a recovery from the USB.

Step-by-step: Recover BIOS using USB flash drive

1. Prepare the USB recovery drive on another PC

  • Use a second computer to visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads
  • Enter your product: HP OmniStudio X 32-c0000 (9T0G1AV) or use auto-detect
  • Under BIOS, download the latest update .exe file
  • Run the file and choose Create Recovery USB Flash Drive
  • Insert a blank USB drive and follow the prompts until it says “Recovery flash drive created successfully”

2. Force BIOS recovery on your affected PC

  • Insert the USB recovery drive into the affected desktop
  • Disconnect all other peripherals (except keyboard and monitor)
  • Press and hold Windows key + V (not B), then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds
  • Release the Power button but keep holding Windows + V for another 5 seconds
  • If successful, you’ll hear beeps and see the BIOS recovery screen

If Windows+V doesn’t work, try Windows+B again with the same timing. Some HP desktops respond to one or the other depending on the motherboard.

What the beeps mean

Nine beeps typically indicate a BIOS corruption or failure to POST. This confirms that recovery is needed and that the system isn’t reaching the boot menu.

Once the recovery completes, your system should restart normally. If it doesn’t, I can help you interpret the beep codes or guide you through creating a fresh bootable USB with Windows installation media.

You're doing everything right—this is a tough situation, but you're close to restoring control.

Hi Hawks-Eye,

Thank you for your really detailed answer to my problem. I want to get this right so I need to set aside to do this very carefully and I hope to do this tomorrow. Once I have done so I will certainly confirm whether or not the proposed solution has been successful .

It’s great to feel supported so once again many thanks for your time and engagement

Hi Hawks-Eye,

Thank you for your detailed answer to my problem. Unfortunately the proposed solution hasn’t been successful. I created the clean USB recovery flash drive and the dialog box confirmed that . Once I inserted the drive and restarted I could see the flashing light on the drive suggesting that it was communicating with the machine . I followed your keyboard instructions but there seems to be one recurring issue. I have swapped my USB keyboard to one with a clear on/off indicator light. I can see that the keyboard doesn’t light up at the initial  startup and indeed has only the occasional  moment during the loops when it appears to be transmitting keystrokes which renders the various presses useless.

The machine still loos through Bios Recovery ( presumably with the new Bios?) and Verification to blank screen with sirens and then eventually restarts the loop.

I’d appreciate your recommendation for any further options especially in the light of the keyboard issue.

many thanks

Paulf26
