Hp mini 110-4103er
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hello! I have a laptop hp mini 110-4103er. The hard disk broke, installed a new one, and when trying to install a new Windows OS, I ran into problems, my BIOS functions were blocked. Booting from a flash drive can not be made. Can anyone have a BIOS firmware with unlocked functions?

Hello @diavolic1989

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

There is no such a thing as "Security boot" in your PC or at least there should not be any. Secure boot is a newer technology released some time after your PC has been published to the market.

Probably the PC may not be able to boot from a Windows installation media because the port is corrupted or because the Windows hasn't been written properly on the USB pendrive, or the Windows ISO is corrupted.

I would recommend you focus on that.

Re-download the Windows 7 installation media from a Heidoc tool => https://www.heidoc.net/php/Windows%20ISO%20Downloader.exe

Download Rufus => https://rufus.ie/

Check your COA sticker and ensure it is readable =>

Using Rufus and the Windows 7 ISO, please create installation media with MBR partition table for BIOS on the target system and ensure the format system is NTFS on the USB pendrive

Boot from the media using Esc button and F9 => here are instructions => https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSN0qzXayUY

Hi! Of course, I tried these methods, wrote down the image of the system on the USB flash drive, checked the boot from the USB flash drive on another laptop. But the hp mini 110 does not boot from the flash drive, although it sees the flash drive in the system. I read that in these models of laptops such as hp mini 110 and 210 many functions of the BIOS are closed

Did you download and write 32-bit Windows ?

You did write it for BIOS ?

The boot option is located in the BIOS -> "System Configuration" -> " Boot options".

Once these are adjusted and saved, you can boot using F9 on start up.

The BIOS is not locked additionally. Nowadays most BIOS/UEFI have many functions hidden compared to BIOS from 10-20 years ago. BIOS/UEFI are made more user friendly in general, especially consumer class computers (home devices) like HP Mini. There should be nothing more special in HP Mini 110 compared to most other home class devices

I tried different versions of operating systems (Windows x84, Windows x64, Ubuntu), different flash drives, different usb connectors, but the boot from the flash drive doesn’t happen at all. A flash drive is detected, there is an indication of access to it. Loading in bios is set correctly.
