Trying to update bios on my HP Notebook (touch 15) running linux but have a windows 10 system to run the .exe file to create a usb flash drive. I did as thread located at following url states ; https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/How-do-I-update-the-BIOS-in-Lin... . The thread is for a stream 11 but only thing I could find that was half way useful, followed directions made the usb drive on the windows system when I reboot and hold windows + B (also tried windows +v; nothing happened) I get a black screen followed by 2 beeps and caps lock blinking 2 times slow and 2 times fast. If anyone has any info on how to update my bios I would greatly appreciate it there are 2 bios updates available for my machine, currently running f.37 and f.40a and f.43 are available.

Hi
BIOS | 2.2 | The main area (DXE) of BIOS has become corrupted and there is no recovery binary image available. Also happens when updating BIOS. | Typically no steps needed. 1. Allow the system to complete its updates and changes. 2. If updates are stalling, attempt Sure Start Recovery. |
What is your SKU please.

Turn off the notebook.
Plug the notebook into a power source using the power adapter.
With the notebook off, press and hold the Windows logo key and the B key at the same time (WinKey +B).
NB: On some notebook models, it might be necessary to press and hold the Windows logo key and the V key (WinKey +V).
While pressing those keys, press and hold the Power button on the computer for 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows logo key and the B or V key until the HP BIOS update screen displays or you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps).
If in doubt please ask.

I held down the windows key and B than power for 3 seconds, it brought me t the a blank screen followed by 10 beeps and capslock key blinking 2 times slow than 2 times fast, I left it like that for 15 minutes and nothing happened. I tried windows key and v followed by power for 3 seconds and nothing happened the computer booted to linux as usual.

Hi
Download and make a backup copy of all 3 BIOS numbers, current one F37, F41 and F43.
C:\swsetup\ etc for F37, F41 and F43.
Apply F37, after making a USB flash drive. Check the file listing.

And it strikes me that it does not have an executable, and wants to boot and run from an efi which is fine for a Secure Boot / GPT arrangement. Is that what you have?
The files seem to be there but deployment is questionable.

One thing the WinKey and B looks for is a backup BIOS to overwrite the current corrupted one and I suspect you aint got one.
If in doubt please ask.

I have checked and redownloaded and the files dont exist in anything I have. I used cabextract command on my linux machine came up with a .bin file that does show up on the bios update screen in hp tools but is not a valid image. Anything that is made on a windows 10 machine does not show on the bios update tool.
