Hi @Rtrbush

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a serious BIOS corruption issue on your HP gaming laptop. The blinking white light (usually a diagnostic code) is indicating a problem, and the BIOS recovery attempts failing suggest that the system is having difficulty restoring or fixing the BIOS.

Here are several potential solutions you can try to resolve the BIOS corruption issue:

1. Check the Blinking White Light Code

  • The white light blinking pattern (3 times in your case) is likely a diagnostic code that could indicate the specific problem with the BIOS. HP laptops often use specific blink patterns to help diagnose hardware issues. You can refer to HP's official documentation or the laptop's manual to look up what the 3-blink code means.
  • Solution: Look for the diagnostic codes on HP’s support website or in your laptop's manual to determine what the 3-blink pattern indicates. This could give you more insights into what might be causing the issue.

2. BIOS Recovery with a USB Flash Drive

  • Since your laptop is going into BIOS recovery mode, you can try a manual recovery process using a USB flash drive to reinstall the BIOS.
  • Solution:
    1. Download the Latest BIOS Version: Go to HP’s official support website, search for your laptop model, and download the latest BIOS version available.
    2. Prepare a USB Flash Drive: Format a USB flash drive to FAT32, then copy the downloaded BIOS file onto it.
    3. Perform a BIOS Recovery:
      • Shut down your laptop.
      • Plug the USB drive with the BIOS file into a USB port on your laptop.
      • Press and hold the Windows + B keys simultaneously, then press the power button to turn the laptop on.
      • Keep holding the keys until the BIOS recovery process begins. This should initiate the BIOS update from the USB drive and attempt to fix the corrupted BIOS.

3. Clear the CMOS (Reset the BIOS)

  • If the BIOS is corrupted, clearing the CMOS (which resets the BIOS settings to default) might help.
  • Solution:
    1. Turn off your laptop and disconnect it from any power source.
    2. Remove the battery (if possible) and unplug any external devices.
    3. Locate the CMOS battery: This is a small, round battery on the motherboard, typically located near the RAM or processor.
    4. Remove the CMOS battery for about 10-15 minutes, then reinsert it.
    5. After putting the battery back, plug in the power cable and turn the laptop on to see if the issue is resolved.

4. Use HP BIOS Recovery (With Key Combination)

  • HP laptops often have a built-in BIOS recovery feature that can be triggered through a key combination at startup.
  • Solution:
    1. Turn off the laptop.
    2. Press and hold the Windows + B keys simultaneously.
    3. While holding these keys, press the Power button for about 3-5 seconds, then release the Power button but continue holding Windows + B until the BIOS recovery screen appears.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to attempt to restore or update the BIOS.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
