Hi @Che22

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how confusing it feels when your laptop keeps opening into the setup screen instead of Windows. You’ve already shown patience in trying to get into the system, so let’s carefully go through steps that can help bring it back to a normal start.

Step 1: Power Reset

  • Shut down the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect the charger and remove any external devices (USB drives, accessories).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger and power the laptop back on.

Step 2: Check Boot Options

  • When the laptop starts, press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • In BIOS, confirm that the boot device order has your hard drive or SSD listed first.
  • Save changes and exit.

Step 3: Run Startup Repair

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Power it on and immediately press F11 to open Recovery options.
  • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
  • Allow the repair to run and restart the system.

Step 4: System File Check

  • If Windows opens, press Windows + S, type cmd, right‑click Command Prompt, and choose Run as administrator.
  • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
  • This will scan and repair missing or corrupted system files.

Step 5: Update Drivers and BIOS

  • Open the HP App on your Windows 10 laptop.
  • Go to Advanced Settings > Updates and install any available BIOS or driver updates.
  • You can also check updates here: HP Software and Driver Downloads

Step 6: Test Hardware

  • In BIOS (F10), run the System Diagnostics > Extensive Test to check memory and hard drive health.
  • If any errors appear, note them down for further action.

You’ve already taken the right initiative by searching and trying to open Windows manually. These steps will help stabilize the startup process so that closing and reopening the laptop doesn’t keep sending you back to setup.
