My PC has locked me away from the HardDrive storage that it initially has and only 90 GB are available out of 950. Windows (C:) is BitLocker Encrypted and doesn't want to be disabled after providing a key.
This issues happened after my Laptop overheated and fully crashed. I tried Auto-repair, Reset with and without keeping files which it didn't allow me to do, so finally I put Windows 10 on a USB and reinstalled it on the computer. I lost everything but still have my PC working. I just need to sort out this issue with the HardDrive storage.

Hi@Adri3l,
Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!
I see you are experiencing issues with the HP PC Cannot unlock BitLocker encrypted drive.
I have a few recommendations
- Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
- Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
- Check connection. We suggest you remove BitLocker encrypted drive from the computer, then re-attach the drive on a different port.
- Open Windows Explorer and right-click on the BitLocker encrypted drive, and then choose Unlock Drive from the context menu. You'll get a popup in the upper right corner that asking for BitLocker password. Enter your password and click Unlock. The drive is now unlocked and you can access the files on it.
- To unlock their drives, users must open “This PC” (or “My Computer”, depending on the version of Windows), right click on the encrypted drive icons with the locked yellow padlock icon, click "Unlock Drive" and provide the Password.
- Open the Command Prompt as administrator.
- Type the following command to unlock your BitLocker drive with 48-digit recovery key: manage-bde -unlock 😧 -RecoveryPassword YOUR-BITLOCKER-RECOVERY-KEY-HERE.
- Next turn off BitLocker Encryption: manage-bde -off 😧
- Now you have unlocked and disabled BitLocker.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
