Bitlocker comes up when I turn on laptop

Welcome to the HP Forum.

 

I'm guessing Windows is asking for a BitLocker key when Windows loads.

 

You are pretty much cooked if you don't know the BitLocker recovery key.

 

You might be able to get the BitLocker key if your PC is associated with a Microsoft account.

 

The system drive is encrypted using BitLocker. The data is not recoverable without the BitLocker key.

 

You will have to do a HP Cloud Recovery or reinstall the operating system using Windows Installation Media if you don't have the BitLocker recovery key.

 

Turn off Device Encryption in Control Panel if you do a HP Cloud Recovery.
