Pavilion laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've had this laptop 4 months, switched it on today and it said restart required for updates to install, so I restarted it, and it came on with the preparing bitlocker recovery, then the blue screen asking for the bitlocker key which I don't have or ever seen it, I did not turn on this function, so how do I get round this without losing all my files and data,

Please help.

Many thanks in advance, Dennis

PS I did try to uninstall updates on the advanced options, but no luck there.

Hi:

If you used a Microsoft account to initially set up your PC, your PC should have saved the bitlocker recovery key to that account.

See this link for how to retrieve the bitlocker key from your Microsoft account.

I didn't use any account to set up, but I do have a Microsoft account and it says I do not have any bitlocker keys saved,

Thanks for your quick response

You're very welcome, Dennis.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you on how to recover the bitlocker key.
