Hi @R_41074926,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your PC is asking for a BitLocker recovery key and you’re unable to restart it, here’s what you can do to resolve the issue:
1. Understand BitLocker Recovery
BitLocker is a disk encryption feature that requires a recovery key if it detects changes to your system that could be security risks. This might include hardware changes, BIOS updates, or even system updates.
2. Find Your BitLocker Recovery Key
You will need the BitLocker recovery key to unlock your drive. Here are common places where you might have saved or backed up your recovery key:
- Microsoft Account: If you linked your BitLocker to your Microsoft account, you can retrieve your recovery key online. Visit the Microsoft BitLocker Recovery Key page and sign in with the Microsoft account you used to back up the key.
- Printout or USB Drive: Check any printouts or USB drives where you might have saved or printed the recovery key.
- Organization: If your PC is part of a work or school network, contact your IT department. They may have a copy of the recovery key.
3. Steps to Enter the Recovery Key
Once you have located the recovery key:
- Boot Your PC: Start your PC and wait for the BitLocker recovery screen to appear.
- Enter the Recovery Key: Use your keyboard to enter the 48-digit recovery key. It should be entered in the format of 6 groups of 8 digits (e.g., 1234-5678-9012-3456-7890-1234).
4. If You Can't Find the Key
If you cannot find the recovery key:
- Check Other Locations: Sometimes the recovery key might be saved in other places like cloud storage or external drives.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
