It stays on the black screen but I can pull up applications but I can't see my background in the applications I can't see the like the HUD at the bottom I waited almost an hour once and it's was still like that and it didn't disappear I try restarting it again well I turned it off but if I reset it it's going to turn on then turn off turn on turn off repeatedly whenever that's what happened when I first reset it it wouldn't go pull up like the thing where you put an account on her when you first get it so I don't know what to do most time when I watch videos said wait 10 minutes then twerk so can somebody please help me I've even tried task manager I don't even know if that's going to work I've tried the F Keys as well I don't know if it's the BIOS like that processor please somebody help me PS I do not know if it's a stream notebook or stream laptop I know they're probably the same thing but I don't know PPS I don't know if there's something wrong with inside but I took it apart but there was nothing wrong as I could see nothing was unplugged nothing was lose nothing so yeah I don't know
I do not know if it's a Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit on Microsoft Windows 10 32-bit
I don't know if this matters but I bought this laptop on February 4th 2017 and and I reset it around Thanksgiving of 2017 and then after you finish resetting it start going on and off it wouldn't even load up to the add a account screen so that's that and it's been like that ever since

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
Factory reset from the recovery media is not the same as the one done from the HP recovery partition or F11,
The main difference is that the recovery media completely removes everything that's on the device and creates a fresh copy of windows on your drive and then installs a new OS, while the F11 simply recreates the existing copy on your device.
I suggest you perform the recovery using the media I had suggested earlier, order one using this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/bph07143 if you don't have one.

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
As I understand your device has a black screen after sign-in & nobody likes that, so let's fix it.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Did you reset using the HP Recovery manager or a retail copy of windows?
- Curious to know, as it makes a big difference on how windows works on your device.
While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:
(let's enter safe-mode)
-
Turn on your computer and repeatedly press the esc key until the Startup Menu opens.
-
Begin a System Recovery by pressing F11. If prompted, select your keyboard layout.
-
The Choose an option screen displays. Click Troubleshoot.
-
If prompted, select your keyboard layout, then from the Choose an option screen, click Troubleshoot.
-
Click Advanced options.
-
Click Startup Settings. If the Startup Settings option does not display, follow the steps for starting Safe Mode in the Entering Safe Mode without access to Startup Settings section.
-
Click Restart.
- The computer restarts and another Startup Settings screen opens showing a list of different startup options.
-
If prompted, select your keyboard language type and sign in with an account name that has administrator rights.
NOTE:
You will need to enter your Windows account name and password to log on in Safe Mode. You will not be able to log on in Safe Mode using another logon method, such as using a PIN or a fingerprint reader.
The computer opens the desktop in Safe Mode.
- In the run box type msconfig.
- Go to Services tab and disable App Readiness.
- (uncheck all except App Readiness and then tap disable button)
-
When finished troubleshooting, exit Safe Mode by clicking Start.
- Click Power, then select Restart.
The computer starts normally.
Keep me posted,
For I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,
And your device is up and running again,
that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,
give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
Once you get to safe mode, press the windows key + R, the get the Run command box,
- In the run box type msconfig.
- Go to Services tab and disable App Readiness.
- (uncheck all except App Readiness and then tap disable button)
When finished troubleshooting, exit Safe Mode by clicking Start.
Click Power, then select Restart.
This should do the trick, if the issue persists, try the steps mentioned on this link:
That said, retail copy means the OS purchased from a retail store, if you've used the HP Recovery manager you have nothing to worry about.

Thank you for replying with this detailed response 😉
I appreciate your time and efforts,
Well, before you take it to a store, etc...I recommend using the link I shared for the guided troubleshooter,
It has steps that'll help you get to speed with the issue, besides, if nothing works, we could perform a factory reset as the last resort:
Use this link for instructions: https://hp.care/2sZtgO9
If that doesn't work, you may want to use the HP Recovery media, and if you don't have one,
use this link to order one: https://hp.care/2qP2Lqh
Alternatively, you can always contact HP to order the media and seek assistance in using it as well:
HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:
1) Click on this link - https://hp.care/2moMFSc
2) Click on "Continue as guest".
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Click on "Show Options".
Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge.
If you would like to thank me for my efforts to help you,
feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on the "Accept as solution".
Have a great day!

Your Windows 10 license key is embedded in BIOS and you can reinstall Windows 10 with the latest update included. You must use another machine with free space to make this installer.
Microsoft provides the free Media Creation Tool to download files and create a Windows 10 usb flash drive. At least 8gb flash drive required:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Select Download tool now, and select Run.
If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10
The Guide here will make it less intimidating.Pay attention to Step 5 since you will be using another pc:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2376-create-bootable-usb-flash-drive-install-windows-10-a.html
-------------------------------
When your usb flash is prepared insert it in usb port of the Stream.Power on the laptop and immediately start tapping Esc key. From the menu tap F9 key to boot from the flash drive- use the arrow keys to move to and select/highlight usb. Tap Enter key.
After starting the Install and you go through a couple of screens - choose Custom (not upgrade) and delete each partition (if you have more than 1) Select/highlight each and click the Delete icon. Click Next to continue with installation. It should pickup the key from BIOS but if it asks at any point just choose "I don't have a key". It will continue and should activate once you are online.
This will not include the original software from HP but most of it can be installed from your Support page.
