15-bs199nl

I have a HP Notebook 15-bs199nl with Windows 10 (64 bit) installed. I made a BIOS update to version "F.75 Rev.A" as it was the latest avaiable on the hp drivers dashboard. The installation went fine but after the reboot the screen was completely black and now it doesn't boot Windows. Did I install the wrong BIOS version? I tried all the possible solutions on the support page (Win + b key with/without USB recovery support) but it still doesn't work.

Try CMOS reset

Follow the steps below to reset computer CMOS data.

1. Turn off the computer.
2. Press and hold the Windows and the V keys.
3. While still pressing those keys, press and hold down the Power button on the computer for 2-3 seconds.
4. Release all the keys.
5. At the completion of a successful CMOS reset, a message showing CMOS Reset (502) will be displayed.
6. Restart the computer.

If you do not see that 502 message then :

  • Turn on the computer by holding the power button down for 20 full seconds then release.
  • Press the Power button one more time (if necessary) to start the computer.

Hi BeemerBiker, thanks for your support. I followed all the steps you described but the monitor didn't display anything. When I turn it on I only see the Caps lock blink and I hear the fan noise. The bios update wasn't reccomended nor by Windows Update or by Hp Support Assistant. I manually downloaded the update utility from the HP drivers website because i thought it was necessary (what a terrible decision!). I suppose the old bios of the notebook was just fine and it didn't require any manual intervention. Sorry for wasting any of your time on this matter.

The blinking CAPs lock might indicated a different problem

Hi @Alemeo. Did you successfully recover the PC? Please let me know. I've had exactly the same issue today (manual update from HP Drivers page).
