Hi @5CD206GYCC,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP laptop is encountering some serious issues, possibly related to hardware or software failures. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Hard Reset: Disconnect the laptop from any power source, remove the battery (if removable), and hold down the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power. Then reconnect the battery and power source and try powering on the laptop again.
  • External Display: Connect an external monitor to your laptop to see if you get any display on the external screen. If the external monitor works fine, it might indicate an issue with the laptop's internal display or GPU.
  • BIOS Reset: Sometimes resetting the BIOS settings to default can resolve startup issues. This involves accessing the BIOS/UEFI settings during startup (usually by pressing F10, F12, Esc, or Del key repeatedly as the laptop powers on).
  • Check RAM and Storage: Faulty RAM or storage can cause boot issues. If possible, try reseating or replacing the RAM modules. You can also try booting the laptop with only one RAM module installed, alternating between slots.
  • Safe Mode: If you manage to get the laptop to start (even intermittently), try booting into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. Safe Mode loads only essential drivers and can help diagnose if a software or driver issue is causing the problem.
  • Update Drivers: Ensure all drivers are up to date, especially graphics and chipset drivers. You can do this in Safe Mode or by booting from a recovery or installation disk.
  • System Restore: If your laptop was working fine previously, you can try restoring it to a previous restore point when it was functioning correctly.

Given the symptoms you described (black screen, keyboard not working intermittently, but fan running), it's likely a hardware-related issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
