Black screen from startup can't get in safe recovery mode

i can normally tell it's been booted on bc of a one second white flash but then screen stays black and it never changes I've tried all of the suggestions on here and still black screen, never see any menu or other mode.

Prior to this I had an error screen that logged n shut my laptop down about a fan driver issue and it was getting a bit hot,.but I'd restart and it would be fine, now not so fine.  A lot of these suggestions like hit CTR alt delete, I don't understand because there's no screen, that doesn't give me a screen.  I just paid for this laptop I really can't afford an expensive repair and I'm a VA that's missing going on 2 weeks... please help!
